Aims of the Workshop

In December 2019, a new disease appeared. Since then, millions of persons have been infected and many deaths have been reported worldwide. Furthermore, institutions and people have been forced to act differently. As the pandemia affects every single aspect of our lifes, the new emerging problems impose important challenges to Operations Researchers. For studying the virus and its transmission process is necessary to manage and analyze big data basis using the methods of the Statistic and Probability. Image processing techniques are applied during the diagnostic and evolution of the patients. Optimization methods support the decision making process in the organization of medical services

This workshop intends to provide a platform for discussing about new theoretical and practical results on the area of OR, mainly focused on theirs possible applications to problems related with COVID-19. The workshop welcomes contributions on mathematical methods, management of big data and business intelligence related to human health, economics, environment, regional development and experiences on OR education under the new cisrcunstances. Cross-fertilization between different topics of the OR, are also expected.

We invite researchers to organize special sessions devoted to one specific topics or on the applications. Due to the new circumstances imposed by the pandemia, this edition will be held online. In-person participation will be also possible. Hotels and transportation to the activities and PCR test could be coordinated for foreign participants by the travel agency.

A social program will be also offered. It will include Cuban music, virtual city tours and other options.
